Ways to play with your Petit Boum Sensory Bottles
Petit Boum sensory bottles have quickly become a best-selling sensory toy here at kiddiekin with babies, toddlers and those with special educational needs benefiting from the captivating contents found within the bottles.
The bottles come in three different styles: float, sound and spy. Each sensory bottle is designed to stimulate the senses and provide an opportunity for sensory exploration. With these sensory toys being truly unique to the UK market in that they are fully tested, double sealed with an FSC certified wooden lid and made from recyclable plastic, it is no surprise that Petit Boum are the perfect sensory toy.
Let’s look into ways that you could use the sensory bottles with your baby or toddler!
Tummy Time Fun
Tummy time is important for developing babies as it helps the development of core muscles that will be required for sitting, crawling and later walking. Tummy time also supports visual development, encourages brain development, helps to prevent flat head syndrome, and bonding with parents/carers.
Petit Boum sensory bottles can be used in tummy time to provide baby with a visual focal point and to capture attention. The float bottles contain glitter and pom poms which when falling create a calming and mesmerising experience for baby.

Shine A Light
Why not darken the room and explore the float sensory bottles in a new and exciting way? Using a torch or phone light, shine the light under the bottle and allow your baby or toddler to see the contents light up as it falls gently down. This calming idea is great for bedtime and to see the sensory bottles in a new way.

Hello Mr Sunshine
We have spoken about using light with the sensory bottles earlier, but the most natural provider of light just LOVES shining on the Petit Boum bottles and the results are incredible! Encourage your toddler to look the colours shone onto the floor – can you name them?

Let’s Get Moving
The Petit Boum sound sensory bottles are fantastic for making noise, and let’s be honest little ones LOVE to make noise! We can use the sensory bottles to encourage baby to move in different ways. When baby is lying down, gently shake the sensory bottle to encourage baby to turn their head towards the sound being made. When baby is starting to become mobile, we can use the sensory bottles as an incentive to move towards, the fascinating contents and exiting sound capture baby’s attention and entice them into moving towards.

Treasure Baskets
One of my favourite play activities to do with my children when they were babies and toddlers was to create themed treasured baskets for them to explore. Quite often there would be a book as the focal point (perhaps this is where the Story Sack Club roots came from!?) and I would find various items with different textures and sounds to explore. Exposure to a range of textures, sounds and sights helps to create pathways in the brain. Allowing your baby to explore each item is all part of the fun and watching them experiment how each item feels or test what it can do is perfect for their developing brains. Sitting with baby and talking through the items incorporates and exposes language which is also hugely beneficial in learning. Items can be found from around the house, quite often sponges/brushes/ribbons etc provide endless entertainment! We strongly always recommend adult supervision. Including your Petit Boum sensory bottle allows baby to explore the bottle alongside the other items in the basket.

Out & About
The beauty of these sensory bottles is that they are the perfect size for taking out and about with you and providing an on-the-go sensory toy always at hand. It can easily fit in a changing bag, be used in the car, taken in the pushchair and used in the highchair while waiting for food in a restaurant. Sensory play on the go!
