The return of the Deluxe Sensory Play Kit - but why is it ideal for a baby?

How did it start?

July 2022 saw the return of the first ever product that we sold here under our previous name Rainbow Sensory Gifts in 2018. Frustrated that there was no 'go-to' sensory kits on the market to use at home, founder Katie crawled the internet and could not find what she was looking for, so she put together making sensory bags on the dining room table. Using her understanding and passion for the Early Years as a teacher on maternity leave, Katie made play sheets to help parents best use the items selected in the sensory bag. The sensory bags were listed on Etsy and quickly became popular with great feedback from other parents who also attended baby sensory classes and saw the benefits it bought their child. Katie found maternity leave a time where the days could seem long and the baby sensory classes were only on for one hour of the week. Seeing the benefit of the sessions with her son Oscar, she was keen to continue the fun at home and felt many others would also, and this really came to light with the 2020 pandemic and all baby classes being cancelled. 

Now, the internet has a large offering of these sensory kits and boxes but a kiddiekin Deluxe sensory kit is special. Items in the sensory kit today were some of the original items that Katie selected to go into the first ever kits made. With experience, and access to new suppliers, the 2022 Deluxe Kit is better than ever!

What makes it special? 

Filled to the brim with sensory stimulating items for your baby to explore, the kit can grow with your baby as they learn new skills and develop new ways to engage with the items. These toys and resources, although simple in their design, offer a range of sights, sounds and textures to expose your baby to, which in turn creates nerve pathways in their quickly developing brains. Each item has been carefully selected for its sensory play purposes and our handy play guide provides a variety of ways to play with each item.

What makes it unique?

It is a kiddiekin kit! It comes in a signature kiddiekin handmade sack, sewn in our warehouse and lovingly put together. We have selected tried and tested items, taken on feedback from previous sacks, found unique items such as the baby crinkle paper, designed our own black and white flashcards and had them printed locally, our ribbon wands are of a high quality with a 6.5mm beech wood ring and an extensive play guide written so that any family member can pick up the kit and play plus many more reasons! The items are designed to last, and we have many parents who use the kits with their second babies right now two years on!

Why a sack?

 Because it has always been in a bag, a box was never a practical option for Katie when she first created the idea. The idea for the bag came from Katie's experience of always packing up toys to take to Grandparents houses or to restaurants etc.  With a bag, not only will the items be kept together with the play guide, but parents and carers can easily pick it up for on the go fun!
